Prez's Piece: Farewell to a legend

Updated: Mar 26, 2021

After 303 First XI games and nearly 11,000 First XI runs, club legend Simon Hill has announced that he will retire at the conclusion of the First XI's match against Casey-South Melbourne on Saturday.

Unfortunately the match is at Casey Fields which may prevent a number of members and supporters from a final goodbye to our man.

Simon has been a giant amongst men in his time at the club, not only for his performances over the years but also including his coaching duties, captaincy, role as a senior player and a couple of years ago life membership of the club which is not bestowed lightly.

We will miss the boy from Wangaratta who first joined our ranks in the Under 16 Dowling Shield team and became a one-club player throughout his whole Premier Cricket career.

You can watch the livestream of Simon's final game of his illustrious career from 11:00am at Casey Fields here.

Best wishes from all of us Simon in whatever follows which we will watch with interest.

On behalf of the whole club, thank you.

Peter Warner OAM

President
