Brought to you by

Dear CMCC Community,

As Christmas draws near, we would like to thank you for your ongoing support of our club!

We've had an up and down start to the season, sitting mid table in all grades but well poised to make a big finals push.

To celebrate the festive season and thank you for your support, please join us on Sunday at the Auburn Hotel for our annual Christmas drinks. More details later in the newsletter.

Thankyou for your continued support of the newsletter too, we very much appreciate you taking the time to stay up to date with our club!

Have a safe, merry and relaxing Christmas and New Year and we will see you again very soon!

Go Pies!

Jack Di Stefano

Head of Media & Communications

THIS SUNDAY! See you all there from 3:30pm onwards!

FAREWELL CHARLES

This week we formally farewelled Charles Opotha from his role as Admin Manager at the club!

Charles joined us 9 years ago, fresh out of Deakin Uni with a passion for cricket and he seamlessly fit into the club!

Since then, Charles has devoted countless Saturdays to ensuring Camberwell Sports Ground is operational on and off the field! He has been the go to man for all the little things around the club that just get done.

It's people like Charles that volunteer their time every week, that keeps clubs like ours running everyday! His contribution can not be understated!

As a token of our appreciation, we signed a jersey of his favourite player, Will Walker, with some messages of thanks.

On behalf of the club, thankyou Charles for your selflessness over many years, you are welcome back at any time and we wish you all the very best!

SAVE THE DATE - SATURDAY 14TH FEB 2026

Don't make any Valentine's Day plans because we've got you sorted with the 2026 CMCC Ball!

More details to come!

Welcome to Jack's Q&A Corner brought to you by Sherlock Wheelbarrows. This week, I thought it was only fair to give a right of reply, to a man who's been accused of doing poo's in backyards by his brother, fresh out of school and schoolies, it's fellow new Rat Pack member, Daniel Pietz!

1. What's something we don't know about your brother Jakey?

Daniel: Well his name is actually Jacob but he hates being called that so makes everyone everyone call him Jakey, He is also a good baker, makes some very good desserts.

I actually thought his name was Jakey so thankyou for this update. And oh boy a baker! I did not expect that! Why didn't he bake me some sort of exotic pastry for dinner rather than tacos. I guess we'll never know!

2. Do you have a favourite Christmas carol?

Daniel: It would have to be All i want for christmas is you by Mariah Carey. A classic!

Agreed that is a classic, lowkey banger too! I do enjoy some even more classical options, a bit of Frank Sinatra, a bit of Dean Martin tickles my fancy. Also any song that was in a Home Alone movie is iconic Christmas for me too!

3. Can you explain to the boomers what 67 means?

Daniel: Far out, it’s started off as a silly joke and now it’s just turned into a lifestyle, nah but seriously I actually don’t know where it’s come from but it’s on the way out now i reckon.

Yeh when the older crowd start learning a teenagers meme it's probably time for it to die. Although, now I realise how often people say 6 7 in general conversation, it's a lot!

4. What are you looking forward to most now that high school is behind you? And do you have any ideas what is next?

Daniel: I’m keen to enjoy the summer and soak in the sun down at the beach and go for a surf here or there. Then for next year i’m working on getting a job at a primary school as an educational support worker and then see where the wind takes me.

This sounds really exciting! The summer after year 12 finishes is arguably the most freeing time ever! Enjoy the sun and an educational support worker sounds great, perhaps you can teach some of our CMCC community how to spell!

5. If I come over for dinner, what are you cooking for me?

Daniel: Well I'm not the best cook going around, i actually struggle to make toast on my own so ill probably be ordering us some kfc.

Oh boy, struggling to make toast, that is hard to be bad at! I haven't had KFC in a very long time but I could go some popcorn chicken and chips, mmmmm finger lickin good!

Thankyou to Pietzy for playing! Q&A Corner will return after the Christmas break!

And if you have any nominations or questions you want asked to someone, feel free to send us an email at admin@camberwellmagpies.com.au

Last weeks answer: A) Reuben Jamieson - that's right in 2021 Reuben was selected to debut at Windy Hill, it was a fantastic effort having been injured for much of the previous season!

Not many correct answers last week, maybe because you would have to do some serious PlayCricket digging to find the answer...........

Round 12 Question - In 2020, who was the least economical bowler in the 4th XIs fixture against Ringwood going at 10.42 runs per over?
