Prez's Piece: December 2020

Well it hasn’t been a great start to the season on the field, but at least we are actually playing some cricket - albeit still under difficult circumstances. I will leave it to our scribes to tell the story of our matches last Saturday.

We are a very young club with a number of new players who will take time to assimilate into our teams, so heads up, work hard, let's encourage each other and results will come.

Off field there have been a significant number of developments since my last report that have moved the club significantly forward in a number of areas:

Pavilions

Firstly, we took possession of the Ratepayers Pavilion two weeks ago which has come up a treat. Our thanks to our Council and the builder for having it ready and to a standard we can all be proud of.

Council now advise that the Main Pavilion will be ready for handover by Christmas and we are arranging for new furniture in the social room in conjunction with Old Scotch Football Club in keeping with the quality of the room.

Corporate Partners

Since my last report, I am extremely pleased to advise that we have engaged five new corporate partners to sit with those already supporting us in McQueen Financial Group, Bendigo Community Bank, Physioworks Health Group, TNF Cricket and our charity partner, Fight MND.

Our new partners include gold partners Melbourne City Toyota and Lexus (with dealerships in Hartwell and the city for Lexus) and Align Concepts, a local home builder, renovator and extensions in Camberwell.

Our new silver partners are the Harp of Erin Hotel, Hark Media (our own Anthony Hall) and as advised last week Monaco's Continental Delicatessen & Food Store on Camberwell Road supporting our Under 16 Premier Team.

We welcome our growing engagement with local businesses and encourage the whole of the CMCC family to support them whenever possible. Corporate partnership is a two-way street and in the case of McQueen, MC Toyota and Lexus and Bendigo Community Bank there are additional club incentive amounts to be received whenever a referred transaction is concluded.

Please get in touch with me before any approach is made to our corporate partners to ensure the right contact is made to earn our incentive.

More will be written next week by our media and comms team in support of our new corporate partners, so stay tuned.

Membership Drive

Our membership drive that we embarked on this season is having excellent results, with 35 members in various categories having joined so far since it was launched in September.

It is a great way for any past player, parent or supporter to return to the club, join up with old mates and enjoy the benefits of membership which are detailed on the website under the 'Membership' tab.

So far over $8,000 has been raised through general membership with benefits or donations through the tax free CMCC Special Purpose Fund through the Australian Sports Foundation Fund.

We are sincerely grateful to these members and it is not too late for others to join and assist the club financially and so again be part of our growing club. Membership Cards with their discounted bar benefits will be back from the printers and distributed next week.

Toyota Good for Cricket Raffle

This initiative is still open whereby there are three cars on offer from Toyota plus a whole host of other prizes.

Tickets are $5.00 each and a bunch of five ($25) or 10 ($50) could make a suitable Christmas gift for someone close.

Tickets can be purchased here with all proceeds coming to the club.
