We split the points this week against Melbourne Uni with bonus point wins in both the Firsts and the Fourths.
The first started off strong with a quick fire 29 from Chris Thewlis however three quick wickets brought our two young guns Spencer Wood and Liam Fitzpatrick together again to steady the ship making 40 and 30 respectively guiding us to 159. It was then a combination of young and old that helped restrict Uni to be all out for 106 with 3/12 from Will walker's 7 and 3/21 from Dhruv Redhu's 7.
The seconds provided an all round team effort with the bat to post 234 after 40's from Fitzsimmons, Rawson and Burrill. However consistent wickets from Uni and a number of starts left us slightly short as Uni completed their chase 3 down in the 46'th over.
The thirds came out firing taking 3/7 to leave Uni reeling early after another brilliant new ball spell from Josh Nevett taking 3/27 off his 6. Uni managed to then scrap their way to 144 which proved to be a winning total as we were unable to build any momentum or partnerships eventually falling short for 107 in reply.
The Fourths are riding a wave of energy at the moment on the back of a third bonus point victory in a row. Bowling first in swing friendly conditions Uni were left in a state of shock 5 down at the first drinks break, with Daniel walker and skipper Robert Capstick taking 2 each. Not giving anything away throughout the middle Uni were inevitably rolled for 100. Putting on a show yet again was Josh Nelson making 33 combining with Swapnil Challa (25) to take the game away from Uni's grasp. This win pushes the fourths to seventh on the ladder and building momentum as we push for a finals campaign. #GoPies #NeverYield
