The Swoop Newsletter - Finals Week 1 2025/26

Brought to you by

Dear CMCC community,

With the regular season done and dusted, we now turn our focus to the 2nd XI and their quest for a flag! They are our last team remaining and it would be fantastic to see as many Pies down at Kardinia Park on Saturday or Sunday to get them home!

We wish them all the very best!

Go Pies!

Welcome to Jack's Q&A Corner brought to you by Lumus Imaging! This week I sat down with a very consistent quick, he's an international traveller, a better golfer and his nickname sounds like the number two, that's right its Aidan Nicholls!

1. Do you think there's a bit in that your nickname is Dos and your partner is Brazilian and the number 2 in Portugese sounds quite similar to Dos?

Dos: Look it’s a stretch but maybe theres a bit in it. Although my nickname at home is Moz (short for mosquito) and around the club it varies from dos to more recently Henry (New Zealand’s Henry Nicholls), toe socks and old spice (all from beef who has taken a liking to abuse my lifestyle accessory choices)

Wow I had no idea you have so many names but I guess we're just waiting for something to stick! I remember in your first praccy game at the club you had 'Williams' on your back and Griff was calling you Robbie, that didn't stick either. I like Dos though, simple and clearly related to you!

2. With the F1 back this week, whats your hot take for the season ahead?

Dos: Yes very excited. I’ve had to sell my tickets though as I’ll be in Geelong this weekend instead. My hot take is with the new cars for this year that it’ll be closer than other years and that the best drivers will come out on top. That being Max and Lewis. My Smokey will be that Kimi Antonelli wins in Melbourne!

I tell ya what, Nev was doing his best on Thursday night to take your spot in the team and let you go and watch the cars! And you've heard it here first, a Mercedes win first up! I would love for Lewis to get that 8th title and stamp himself as the greatest! Fairy tale stuff!

3. What excites you about being in finals this week? And have you played a final for the club before?

Dos: Super pumped for this weekend. I think this 2’s side has a great mix of experience and youth that’ll play well for us in March. I’m excited for the club wide support being we are the only team left and hopefully can win a few more games to take us deep. I’ve played a couple finals all being unsuccessful but that has made me more keen to win and keep the season alive. I think Scooter will have a great finals series starting with a win and man of match performance this weekend against his old club Geelong.

This is the week of predictions, first the F1 and now we've got Scooter man of the finals series! I like it! Well it is the Tom Scott Cup this weekend so hopefully he can stick it up em and get some runs! And agreed, with the inclusions of Prajay and Wisey, this team can chase anything! Did you say anything?

4. What have you enjoyed most about the Brazilian culture?

Dos: Getting to go to Brazil over Christmas and new years was amazing. The food & drinks and the way they live, the beach style life similar to Australia was what excited me most. Super friendly people and something everyone should go experience once in their life. Shoutout to Jim Wiseman who would be my pick to have the best time over there given the local traditions and I know he’s been practicing his Portuguese.

Wisey is a linguist for someone who has one of the whitest names at the club! Great pick! Would thrive with his shirt off running along the beach in Rio! But that sounds incredible, how special to be able to have those experiences with someone you love! When cultures meet, magic happens!

5. If I come over for dinner, what are you cooking me?

Dos: For a special guest like yourself I’ll pull out all the stocks and blow the weekly meal prep budget usually consisting of 5 pesto pastas each week & I’ll make some homemade spaghetti meatballs with air fried potatoes chips and a Greek salad. A real multi cultural meal all in one.

Homemade spaghetti, hope that means you're making the pasta yourself cause that would be ultra fresh! I tell ya what though, a pesto pasta doesn't go astray, especially in summer with basil growing out your ears, you could freeze it for months! Thankyou for the chips and greek salad, the icing on the cake to a delicious meal!

Thankyou to Dos for playing! Find out who is next on Q&A Corner in the next newsletter!
