DOUBLE DEBUTANTS FOR DOUBLE HEADER
Thursday night greeted us with not one but two 1st XI debutants, Hamish McKenzie and Jakey Pietz!
Hamish joins us for the remainder of our white ball fixtures as he is also playing for the Melbourne Stars in this summer's BBL! Hamish is a left arm leg spin bowler who is a handy left hand batter too!
Hamish's grandfather Colin, former CMCC player and life member drove up from Geelong to present him with his cap! It was a wonderful ceremony hosted by Peter Warner OAM, full of history and promise for the weekend to come!
Jakey joined us at Camberwell this season after his brother Daniel last year! Similar to Hamish, Jakey is a right arm off spin bowler who is also a very handy right hand batter! Jakey has bowled exceptionally at 2nd XI level and after being named in the Vic Metro U17 team, he has also earnt his spot in our 1st XI for this weekend!
Jakey will be presented with his cap on Saturday so that his family can attend the ceremony so stay tuned for some photos next week!

Welcome to Jack's Q&A Corner brought to you by Mimi's! This week I sat down with one of the clubs veterans, a man who turns doorknobs on a Saturday and has done it for so long, we even gave him a life membership, that's right, it's Kevin Prior!
1. There's been a few blokes getting their knees dirty and putting a ring on it Beyonce style......word on the street is you're next! Do you have any response to these rumours?
Kev: I've never been one to follow the crowds of sheeple. Just for now I'll only be getting down on one knee to melt one to deep square leg. Who knows what's to come in the future tho...
I'll tell ya who's gonna have issues in his right knee, James Wiseman, he's gonna have to stop playing at The Well and on the Wiseman Wicket (closest to Bowen St) because the amount of slog sweeps he plays is a one way ticket to osteoarthritis! But yes please be mindful of selection etc etc if a wedding is on the cards because you might find yourself coming back through the 4s.....
2. Do you feel like you've come full circle now being the oldest player in the 2s?
Kev: Somewhat, I'll never be as grumpy as Dan 'rowdy' Rawson or as nuffy as Mark 'Snuffleupagus' Dwyer, but I definitely feel young at heart. With people like darts Mcgrotty and the pietz brothers coming through, the culture is where it needs to be.
The 2s has always been the People's XI, the culture in the 2s is definitely peak at the club and it's thanks to the old guys like yourself and captain grumpy Rawson and Verve in years gone by! When certain songs play I associate them specifically with some of our successful 2s teams from the late teens with Verve and Maysy leading the way! And you spinning us to victory against Dandenong on a Sunday!
3. Now that you have life membership, is the plan to keep playing for as long as possible to make up for all the years you paid subs?
Kev: I made that money back a long time ago, before they banned me from working behind the bar.
Geez lucky you had Maysy as treasurer early days cause I think Lord Edmund and Gravo would have a mental breakdown if they heard that happening! But good to know you're in it for more than the free subs!
4. How is the OG rat pack going? And do you see any potential for a new rat pack at the club?
Kev: OG rat pack are all in good shape. We have gone in different directions, blows my mind when one of them has 2 kids and another is about to buy a house. Maybe myself and Bill need to grow up.
There are a couple of potentials for a new pack. I know beefs working hard on putting together a crew.
That's good to hear! And agreed there is definitely a Beef led pack forming but I think if we go even younger there's the Pietz bro's + Grot forming a little rat pack of their own too, especially if they punch darts!
5. If I come over for dinner what are you cooking for me?
Kev: I just recently started making carbonara the authentic way. Eggs, parmesan, guanciale. You'd find it bellisimo!
Oh Kevin your Italian is excellent! Authentic carbonara goes a long way and honestly pretty simple and easy to make as well but the flavour is delicious! Appreciate you cooking me something Italian as well!
