This week we celebrate the 100th club game of Robert Capstick! A true Magpie, Bob has devoted much of his adult life to making this club a better place so I thought, what better way to acknowledge his service than through a poem.

An Ode to Robert

Robert, you are like a hobbit,

Not in stature but in nature.

Loyal, determined and caring,

Your bouncers are ever so daring.

As captain, treasurer and clubman,

You are the 4th XIs X-Man.

Always leading from the front,

And with a bit of extra grunt.

You nurture many a young Pie,

Teaching them to never say die.

This week you bring up the ton,

Something that not many have done.

So lead with all your glory, hunk and dash,

For it will fly by in a flash.

Go well Bobby!

Welcome to Jack's Q&A Corner brought to you by Bendigo Bank.

This week, I sat down for a second time with everyone's favourite, as the header says, Supreme Leader of the 4th XI (again) Lord Edmund Robert Capstick who at this point should have the newsletter named after him!

1. 100 games for the Pies this week, what's been your best memory at the club so far?

Bob: 7fa was nice, my batting partnerships with Josh Nelson even better but, it would be Anton’s career best 25 runs last season against Northcote, although he is yet to beat my highest score.

I mean, Anton reckons he was 50+ not out in the nets on Wednesday night sooooo he might be out to get you. That 7fa was very nice and against Melbourne too to make it all that bit sweeter on a sweltering day down at Beaumaris!

2. Since your partner and dog are named Bella and your family love the Edmund Robert name for their sons, should we expect these to be your kids names one day?

Bob: John and Beryl, keep it simple.

I just got a call from 1927, they want their names back Bob!

3. You've been upping your golf game recently, should we expect you to take out the CMCC Golf Day this year?

Bob: I have enjoyed working on my golf game but I'm still a fair way off winning the exclusive CMCC Golf Day. Although, I am beating Griff McComb’s 60m drives so that’s a bonus.

Don't sell him short Bob, it was 64m! But I must say from spraying them into the side netting at the driving range back in COVID times, it is very nice to see you hit the ball with the right part of the club. And doesn't a fancy new driver make all the difference!!!

4. I know you are big on the RMs but do you have a go to sock brand? Bob: Happy socks got a run back in the day but now Uniqlo are a go to. Pair well with the RMs, check them out.

Uniqlo seriously underrated store. I went to the flagship store in Tokyo last year which is 7 stories worth of stuff, pretty cool place. Great quality and pretty reasonable prices, can't complain, get down for your next pair of socks!

5. Last year you cooked me a scotch fillet steak with roast potatoes, greens and apple crumble for dessert. Do you have any other tricks up your sleeve you could prepare for me?

Bob: Homemade pasta has had a run in the off season, which has been good. I also have been working on my crème brûlée and fair to say it has been nailed. Blowtorch is a lot of fun. Will be happy to give you a sample in your next visit.

The blowtorch! Boy oh boy might have a new contestant for the Great British Bake Off. I love that you added in the accented letters too in your answer just to add that extra pizazz. I am very excited to try that along with a bit of homemade Capstick pasta!

Thankyou to Bob for playing! Find out who will be next on Q&A Corner in next weeks newsletter!

Welcome to Tone's Trivia, brought to you this week by Physioworks Health Group! Thankyou for your answers last week! I will provide a top 10 leaderboard in the coming weeks so you all know where you stand!

A massive thankyou to our sponsors Physioworks Health Group & Chargrill Charlie's for their ongoing support of the segment!

A reminder that the following prizes are up for grabs:

First Prize: Physioworks Health Group Massage Voucher

Second Prize: Chargrill Charlie's Voucher

Last weeks answer: C) Neil Gray

It was everyones favourite baseball mitt catcher and throw down expert Neilo who took 4/33 off 30 overs with 16 maidens way back in 2016/17. Well done Neilo and thankyou for naming yourself 'The Answer' (like Allen Iverson) when you submitted your answer!!

Round 2 Tone's Trivia - In the 4th XI's 2018/19 fixture against Footscray, who captained the team in the absence of Bob Capstick who was promoted to the 3rd XI?

Trust me, we will break away from the 4s in Tones Trivia very soon!
