VALE BRUCE MOIR

It is with a heavy heart that we report former Camberwell Cricket Club player, Bruce Moir passed away on Friday 2nd October 2026, aged 65.

Born in 1960 and a local Camberwell resident, Bruce completed his junior and senior education at Carey Grammar School, Kew. In his final year at Carey, he was captain of the First XI averaging over 60.0 with the bat to win the APS batting average in 1978.

He played 55 Seniors games for CCC between (1973-79), (1988/89) and (1991/92) as an opening or top-order batsman. Bruce scored 1306 runs at an average of 27.7

His District cricket career in the First XI at Melbourne University commenced in 1979/80 and involvement ended in the 1990/91 season (his First XI resume showing 71 games for University and 15 for Richmond - cap no. 461).

A fine left-handed opening or top-order batsman, he had three centuries 110 vs. St. Kilda, 109 n.o. vs. South Melbourne and 104 vs. Fitzroy, and averaging over 62.0 finished second in the District cricket batting averages 1983/84. Due to his consistent batting form, Bruce was selected for Victoria in the last three Sheffield Shield games during the 1983/84 season, where he batted in the middle-order.

Bruce was a much loved and respected personality at CCC and will be missed by his many friends.

We extend our sincere sympathy to his wife Martine, daughters Georgie and Annabel and the extended Moir family.

Rest in Peace.

Welcome to Jack's Q&A Corner brought to you by Lumus Imaging! This week, I sat down with our prized recruit for season 2026/27, one of Victoria's brightest and talented fast bowlers, and an absolute gentleman, that's right, it's Tyler Pearson!

1. How are the back stressies recovery going and is it a right of passage for all fast bowlers these days?

Tyler: Recovery is going good, I think all fast bowlers go through something like this. I think this phase of what I’m going through is so important for bowlers, it really helps you better understand your body better!

It does seem to be quite common amongst Aussie quicks but according to Brett "Binga" Lee, you just need to bowl more to harden your body.........ok Binga, sure thing! But glad to hear you're learning how your body works best, hopefully we get you back bowling quicker than ever very soon!

2. We know you're lethal on the field but what do you get up to off the field?

Tyler: Off the field I love going to church on Sundays, enjoy spending time with my girlfriend & friends too.

What I'm hearing is, you're a family man! Which we love! Camberwell is very proud to be considered a great social club so we hope you enjoy the variety of events we have to offer!

3. We have a stronghold of quicks in the Vic team, with the likes of Boland, O'Neill and Sutherland, whats one thing you've taken away from those guys?

Tyler: I’ve learnt what hard work looks like….I think when you see those guys training you see their work rate and it pushes you to be better and work harder.

Love to hear the big dogs are setting an example for the young guns! I always find watching old games on FoxCricket gets me up and about or re-watching 'The Last Dance' on Netflix, MJ taking everything personally and going nuts, always inspiring!

4. Rain seems to play a factor a lot in the early rounds of the season, what's your favourite rain delay activity?

Tyler: I love trivia, cards or indoor cricket!

For lovers of trivia and cards, you have found yourself in the right team! The Magoos led by Reuben love some trivia on the sidelines as you got a taste of in the praccy game! I love a game of Monopoly Deal as well, can get a bit spicy though......don't tempt Griff with Monopoly Deal, you might never leave.....

5. If I come over for dinner, what are you cooking for me?

Tyler: I’ll cook you Thai green curry.

First meal of the year and I like the sound of it! I haven't had Thai in a while so I'd be keen. Also a great start that you're actually going to cook unlike these young hotshots getting their parents to cook or ordering takeaway!

Thankyou to Tyler for playing! Stay tuned to see who's next on Q&A Corner!
