Brought to you by

ALL GAMES STARTING AT 10AM TOMORROW TO COMBAT THE HEAT

Due to Ian Johnson Oval being unavailable next Saturday, the 4th XI will be playing a one day game under two day conditions.

100 FOR AKA!

This week our 1st XI wicketkeeper batter, Akshay Kodoth reaches game 100 for the club! Arriving in 2019/20, Aka immediately made his mark. He is 1st XI cap 137 and has twice been crowned the John Birch Trophy winner (2020/21 & 2023/24) for club champion with the highest aggregate points across the whole club.

Akshay is also one of the cleanest keepers in the comp and we are very lucky to have him behind the stumps each week!

We will have a formal ceremony next Thursday night so stay tuned for some celebratory photos!

Congratulations Aka and go well against the Saints!

Welcome to Jack's Q&A Corner brought to you by The Hawthorn Hotel! This week I sat down with a man who lives a long way from Camberwell but has become a stalwart of the 4th XI over the past two seasons and recently returned from a holiday in New Zealand, that's right, it's Karan Jacob!

1. How's the drive from Geelong going and what do you do to fill the time?

KJ: The drives been nice and quick lately, not much traffic with people still not being back at work. I fill in the time with music, but if I’m lucky enough to be joined by my old mate Tom Scott, he’s always got stories and words of wisdom for the ride

Ahh yes I'm sure many good lessons from Scooter particularly since he runs a podcast, I imagine there's a few guest stories he could tell! But yes, enjoy the quicker journey before schools head back next week!

2. Whats it been like without your bestie Lax in the 4s for most of the year?

KJ: We have lost a fair bit of entertainment with the retirement of Lax, but some of Jack Evans’s comments certainly make up for it

I'm not sure if we can call not being picked in 4th grade as 'retirement' but yes we are all a little bit smarter for not having Lax around! And I have been acquainted with Scoops Evans recently and agree the boy can yap!

3. Do you ever feel intimidated by Lord Emperor Supreme Edmund Capstick as skipper?

KJ: He is quite an intimidating man especially when an opponent or umpire is getting under his skin, but he has been very good to me so I have never felt intimidated. Probably helps that I’m a fellow cats fan.

Yes Lord Edmund is always good to his own, he's one of those guys you hate to play against but love to have on your side.......until he starts shoulder charging blokes or you move into the 3s like Monty and start copping it because you're "better than 4th grade".

4. What have you been up to during the uni break?

KJ: Not a whole lot, gym, work, cricket, beach and catching up with mates. My mate got me into surfing this summer so have been trying and failing at that also.

Surfing sounds fun! And very accessible to you down Geelong way, few more waves than Brighton...... I've surfed once in my life, year 7 camp and my year level coordinator surfed into my head, luckily I'm made of sturdier stuff so the surfboard was in more trouble than me.

5. If I come over for dinner, what are you cooking for me?

KJ: Yeah look I’m not the most prolific chef going around, but I do pride myself on making a delicious wood-fried pizza so would have to be that.

I really hope you mean wood fired because although wood fried would still work, the top might not be very crispy! But love the effort to go wood-fired, very easy to go in the oven. For those looking for a bangin pizza dough recipe, hit up 'Recipe Tin Eats', her recipe is delicious!

Thanks to KJ for playing! Who will be next on Q&A Corner, find out in the Round 16 newsletter!

Last weeks answer: A) Drawn Tie - that's right it was a famous drawn match! After 2 full days of play, nothing could separate the Pies and the Panthers with them both ending up on the same score!

Round 15 Question - How much did it cost CMCC players to park outside the Junction Oval during pre-season per session?
