Welcome to Jack's Q&A Corner brought to you by Bendigo Bank. This week, I sat down with the Head Badger, the captain of the 3s and all round top bloke, it's Tom Vanderslik!

1. What does holding the title of 'Head Badger' mean to you?

Tom: The title of ‘Head Badger’ is one that I do hold with a lot of pride. At a big cricket club like ours with many secret and not-so secret cricket nuffies, to be entrusted as the ‘Head Badger’ is a true honour.

The Head Badger who uses a badger, a part of the 'Badgers', there's some real badgeriness happening around the club. As Brett Kirk would say, we're a bunch of unique individuals and we just love the cricket.

2. Having worked with our fearless 4th XI leader Lord Robert Edmund, does he have any weird quirks in the office?

Tom: Our man Bob will not be seen without his AirPods in, and he doesn’t mind showing off the pipes with a slightly smaller polo shirt on a more casual Friday.

But he is an excellent accountant for anyone looking for any accounting or tax related information.

Loves the big dog airpods in, tight shirt, don't talk to me I'm too busy for you strut does our man. Really taking advantage of the casual Friday too, just to remind everyone that he does occasionally hit the shred factory and captains premier 4th grade.

3. Congratulations on your engagement, what are you most looking forward to about marriage?

Tom: Difficult question Jack! Well we’ve been together for so long that I don’t foresee any big life altering changes in married life, but I guess we will wait and see! But we are really looking forward to celebrating with family and friends, it’s coming up really quickly! I am looking forward to stopping having to pay for it though!

Well Tom, the club thanks you for scheduling it outside of cricket hours and we wish you and Ruth a lifetime of happiness together!

4. What did you ask Santa for this Christmas and did he deliver?

Tom: I wasn’t sure what Santa had in store for me this year, but my fiancé did organise just prior to Christmas us getting a young puppy, a Murray River Curly Retriever named Oscar, who has definitely kept us on our toes during the break!

For those who haven't seen, head to Toms socials for a pic of the little cutie. What an awesome gift! I used to have a dog years ago, a plush toy dog called Fergus, named after the Fergus to the Rescue books which I learnt off by heart. Dogs are the best!

5. What's your new year's resolution if you have one?

Tom: Not a big one for New Years Resolutions, but probably just to do everything I can to help get us playing finals in all four grades and have a lot of fun doing so!

Not only devoted at home, but devoted to the club. Gosh we are lucky to have you Tom, if only we could have a Tom replicant in each grade to increase the badgeriness of each team. More badgers = more success

6. If I come over for dinner, what are you cooking for me?

Tom: For me a BBQ is always a winner, however apart from meeting Oscar, I did get a new pasta roller for Christmas. So maybe when you next come around Jack, a tagliatelle with a creamy bacon or butter sauce might be a winner?!

Oh Tom, I feel like I'm on the Sicilian coast with you describing that Tagliatelle! Maybe we could make some ravioli or even some gnocchi. But I'd come over whether you were cooking or not Tom, always a pleasure, never a chore!

Thankyou to Tom for playing! Who will be next on Q&A Corner? Find out in the New Year newsletter.......
