Second XI a little buzz and into the finals.

An important round for the club as the 2's and 4's looked for a win to keep their season going into semi final week and beyond.

The Firsts were sent in to bat on McQueen park as CM Thewlis got us off to another flyer with a quick fire 35, and SJ Wood doing what he does best with another 40 in the middle order proving to be an invaluable anchor. But it was KA Prior 41(50) stealing the show coming in at 7/115, he had great support from speedster WG Walker 3(21) to drag the boys to 177 off their 50. It was always going to be tough defending 177 against a star-studded Melbourne outfit but tight bowling from RF Jamieson (2/32) and CW Bridle (1/24) made Melbourne work for it with a result coming in the 43'rd over.

The Seconds faced their biggest game of the season, needing a win and external results to go our way the stars aligned giving the boys a much-deserved spot in finals. Batting first on the Albert young JT Di Stefano was at his best cruising to a well compiled 78 anchoring the innings and allowing A Pawha to come in at the end and whack 41 off 25, getting us to a highly competitive 238. It was heart in mouth stuff during the bowling innings, Melbourne cruising at 2/158 when one of our young Vic u/19 superstars OJ Jenkins decided enough was enough taking 3 quick wickets to drag the boys back into the contest. Not letting up until the very end the boys managed to cap off a brilliant season with a brilliant win bowling Melbourne out for 221 in the 45'th.

The Thirds were sent in to bat at Watson Park with pride to play for it was young and old combining to lift the boys to 7/219 as club favourites TM Donaldson 60(58) and SJ Mazza 59*(68) put in the bulk of the work. A Vidajic bowled a very handy spell of 2/34 but unfortunately one batsman for Melbourne took the game away from us securing the win in the 42'nd over.

The Fourths lost the toss and bowled first on a very flat Beaumaris wicket. Handy opening spells from DK Walker (2/34) and JT Nevett (1/33) set the game up nicely as AI Ponnamperuma was up to his usual tricks with 1/10 off his 9. An all round effort meant we bowled Melbourne out for a sub par 147 in the 43'rd. Young guns T kelly (45) and HJ Carlin (35) got us off to a strong start setting up the run chase allowing for KD Scanlon to come in and guide us home with another defining knock of 46*(30) as he continues to improve in his first year at the club. having knocked off the top 4 in recent weeks the 4's are in hot form heading into finals week 1.
