A big welcome to all our Stakeholders for the forthcoming 2021/22 season.

AT LAST, we can see a glimmer of hope in getting the season started which will go some way to easing all of our frustrations that have been building up by the week.

The current position of only 2 players being allowed to train together should soon become 5 and then opened up when the State reaches 70% double vaccine so that our Coaches can put their pre-season plans into effect.

We are waiting on more information from Cricket Victoria on 2 fronts: 1. An revised fixture of up to 15 One Day matches for the season or a mixture of 5 One Day matches pre Christmas followed by 5 Two Day matches post-Christmas with 3 pools of 6 teams playing each other in both formats;

2. CV position on player vaccination which will be governed by the State Government on sport.

The refurbishment of the centre square at McQueen Park should commence this coming week which will preclude us from playing our home matches on the hallowed ground until possibly Christmas. Practice wickets and ground fielding activities will be available however during this time so we will be ready for Match 1, whenever that will be.

Through Dave Francis and Mark Dwyer, we have been fortunate in having Nick Maxwell and Cameron White talk to our Academy boys and the whole senior playing group respectively on preparation, mindset, getting the best of oneself, and technique which has been extremely beneficial for our Group. Our thanks to Dave and Mark.

As requested through a player survey we have appointed 5 Coaches for the coming season to provide greater one on one resources in the continuing development of our players.

Our Coaches are: Ben Ryan: Senior Head Coach David Alleyne: Batting & Keeping Coach Andrew Fekete: Fast Bowling Coach Paul Jackson: Spin Bowling / Batting Coach Shaun Prescott: Academy/Dowling Shield

With Andrew Fekete stepping down from 1st X1 Captaincy the Cricket Committee has made 3 new appointments in Ben Rowles ( 1st XI Captain ) with Will Walker as his Vice Captain, Daniel Rawson has been appointed 2nd XI Captain with Luke Prior and Rob Capstick retaining their captaincy positions with the Thirds and Fourths respectively.

There have also been some changes to the General Committee with Hamish Burrell joining as Apparel Co-Ordinator and Players Representative, Kieren Jamieson taking over from Chris Bridle in Social and Events, and Tim Nelson joining as a member of the Cricket Committee and responsible for List Management. Anthony Hall takes over the Communications portfolio including the Web Site and Social Media including the Newsletter. Mark Dwyer has taken up the position as Head of the Cricket Committee whilst all other position appointments remain the same.

Unfortunately we also say goodbye from the Committee to Ben Rowles in taking up his Captaincy position, Dave Francis and Charles Norbury who has moved to England for further study. These people with Chris Bridle contributed greatly to the successful season we had last year and will be missed.

I congratulate and welcome all the above appointments, and welcome all players, both returning and new as we look to another season of continuing growth and development in our quest to improve our position to top 6 in the Club Championship with all 4 teams contributing.

I am delighted to advise that all of our Corporate Partners from last year are continuing with their support which again will underpin a significant financial base for which we are extremely grateful. We also have additional indications from further parties who wish to support our Club which will be followed up as we progress.

I cannot stress enough that we MUST individually support these organisations by giving them the opportunity to at least discuss their products whenever the occasion arises.

More on our Sponsors next week.
