The Camberwell Magpies Cricket Club (CMCC) is pleased to announce the signing of Ben Ryan as the club’s Senior Head Coach for the 2021-22 season.
Ryan joins the Camberwell Magpies from Canberra where he has been working in a variety of cricket coaching and administration roles since 2012. For the past two seasons, Ryan has been the Director of Coaching for the Australian National University (ANU) Cricket Club in the ACT Premier Cricket competition and the Director of Coaching for the IC Pathway Academy.
Prior to this, Ryan was the Premier Cricket and Junior Cricket Competitions Manager at Cricket ACT for seven years and enjoyed a stint as the Community Cricket Development Officer for Cricket PNG in 2011-12.
Despite spending a large portion of the last decade in the ACT, Ryan arrives in Melbourne as no stranger to the Victorian Premier Cricket scene having played for Northcote and Fitzroy Doncaster in the early to mid 1990’s. Ryan was also involved with the Preston Cricket Club in the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association between 2008 and 2011 where he was senior coach in 2010/11.
CMCC President Peter Warner said the club was excited to welcome Ryan to the role of Senior Head Coach.
“I am delighted to advise that Ben Ryan has been appointed by the Committee to the position of Senior Head Coach for the forthcoming season,” Warner said.
“Ben is a Level 2 CA Accredited Coach and although originally from Melbourne has been coaching in Canberra for the last 10 years, including with a number of ACT Academy and representative teams together with being Head Coach of the ANU Club in the ACT Premier Cricket Competition for the past two years.
“Ben is moving back to Melbourne permanently in the next month and with his extensive overall group and individual coaching experience we very much look forward to welcoming Ben to the Magpies to assume the Senior Head Coach role.”
The club will now turn its attention to finalising the rest of its coaching and cricket department structure and will have more to announce on this in the coming weeks.
